Wayne Coyne and Miley Cyrus, as musicians and humans, embody a spirit I feel more connected to than any other artists out there. I was at Bangerz Tour in LA the first time she performed with The Flaming Lips, everything I ever loved flashed before my eyes. And now, their cover of ‘A Day In The Life’, the performance on Conan – it’s all revealing of a deeper message they’re not coming right out with cause no one’s ready.
This article is for the few who are.
Nikola Tesla, undoubtedly one of the most influential futurists of the modern era, said when science begins to study non-physical phenomena we’ll make more advances in one decade than we have in all of human history. The human collective shares consciousness – we have the ability to affect each other and the planet in profoundly positive or negative ways. If we don’t stop having a negative affect on each other and the world, we’re all going to die (duh). Our imagination must be called upon to create the idea of a world free of all the negativity our collective is perpetuating.
I believe we can use our imagination to affect our physical reality. When I hear Miley’s cosmic, phone-sex-operator voice coming in on ‘A Day In The Life’, I hear the neon-joy world she’s imagined for herself cracking through the proletariat struggle. All those eyes on her and Wayne’s costumes are looking at everything we could be seeing if we only imagined it. To change the world, we have to imagine something different and embody it. Miley and The Flaming Lips are doing just that on the pop culture level.
By the way! That’s like, everyone’s favorite level, so it’s a great one to infuse with more and more imagination. We can all imagine a different reality for ourselves and have it, the only requirements are positive energy and focus. I really believe this is what Miley and Wayne are trying to tell us, that and smoking weed is fun and aliens are real. As I said, most people aren’t ready to be told they can imagine their way to create whatever reality they want. That puts a lot of responsibility on us when being reactive is far easier. IDK about y’all, but I want my world to look and feel more like this and less like my usual prescribed, Earthly routine. Enjoy = in joy.
